Many presentations

I’m nearly 12 weeks here in Helsinki now – wow, how time flies!! In the meantime the fifth period of the academic year at the university has begun. Last week I finished two more of my courses. Firstly, Data Analysis with SPSS. Well, it’s not the most interesting topic, but at least I earned easily two credits for my learning agreement ;) And secondly, I finished the Marketing Communications project. My group existing of five exchange students had to present our marketing ideas for Nokian Tyres expansion in Germany. Before the presentation I was quite nervous because it was the first time that I had to present in front of two representatives of this company. But everything went fine, and we got very good feedback xD

The rest of the week I was busy with the project in International Marketing Planning and Implementation for which we had to present our idea to the Head of Studies at HAAGA-HELIA University. This presentation was yesterday and we are quite satisfied with the outcome as the woman will support us as much as possible.

I think in the weeks since I’m here I did more presentations than in all the years at school and at MCI. I nearly get used to it ;D But I have noticed that due to many presentations during the whole semester, students don’t pay very much attention to how they present. I mean I learned at university that for a presentation one should be well-prepared etc. so that she/he can speak fluently about the specific topic. But the Finnish students are standing behind the computer and are reading the texts off their slides… o.O Maybe I just put too much effort in all the presentations..

Tomorrow I’ll leave Helsinki for three days to visit St. Petersburg. I heard from other students that the city is very impressive, also my Russian teacher told me this last winter.. so I’m looking forward to it!! Maybe in the evening I should try to remember some phrases in Russian… would be helpful..

  • Are there any pictures from St. Petersburg?
    Cheers,
    Chrisse vom MCI ;)

  • They are coming soon.. ;)
